I myself suffered from acne for as long as I can remember. I tried almost every products under the sun, but still no relief. The Dermatologist recommended Retin-A and Clindamycin, which I used for years. Not only did my acne not clear, I never acclimated and was horrifically dry the whole time. I was introduced to the Face Reality acne program at my previous esthetics job. Skepticism aside, we brought on the program and I was the first guinea pig. After 3 months of diligent product usage and facial treatments my skin was completely clear AND has remained clear up until this day. From there I was trained and certified as an Acne Specialist through Face Reality and have cleared numerous clients skin.  

Most acne products and programs have all the right components but don’t take into consideration different skin types or pore clogging ingredients. They provide a one size fits all approach ignoring the fact that you need to push the skin in order for it to clear. Active ingredients, tricking the skin and avoiding all pore cloggers are key factors to being acne free. 

Here at Vital Skin Care Studio, I approach acne from all angles. This is what makes the program I use so successful. 

  • I take into consideration your skin type when it comes to product recommendations and what treatments are performed in the studio. 

  • The products I carry are designed for treating acne. They are tested to ensure non-pore clogging ingredients, vary in strength to cater towards all skin types, and encompass the essential active ingredients needed for clear skin.

  • The active ingredients used vary in strength to avoid over-dryness but provide room to grow if needed. 

  • I go over specific dietary triggers that could be making your acne worse.

  • I will provide you with a list of good and bad hormonal birth controls for acne prone skin.

What happens during your treatments? 

Your in-clinic treatments will consist of either steam with a mild enzyme exfoliant or a self-neutralizing peel that does not illicit excessive irritation or dehydration. I will assess your skin at each visit to determine which treatment is best. 

During every treatment I will perform extractions of pustules, black heads, closed comedones and sebum clogged pores. By removing the "plug" of the follicle, I am literally removing a formidable part of the acne process. I am removing a potential future pustule and helping aesthetically with pore size and overall skin smoothness, inflammation and appearance. This part of the acne program will remove what has currently formed on the skin, help with product penetration and speed up the acne clearing process. Extractions also help to stop and limit scarring. By draining the lesion, this will halt the degeneration of surrounding skin tissue.
